Portumna
Portumna is a well know tourist destination located on the River Shannon.
Apart from the River Shannon there are numerous tourist attractions, including Portumna Castle, Portumna Forest Park and it many signed walks.
The magnigicant Portumna Forest Park and Wildlife sanctuary is home to a variety of species of birds and deer. It is an excellent setting for relaxing walks, scenic picnics and beautiful nature trails. Within the park there is an old abbey that dates back to the 15th century.
For sports enthusiests, we have water in abundance, with lots of water sports. Fishing is also very popular on Lough Derg.
Portumna has one of the finest parkland golf courses in the west of Ireland.
